Our weekend of running around was a lot of fun.
Our turnout at Friday's Fashion Show Fantasia at the Savoy was lighter than expected, so we sang some songs, told some jokes, played charades (no, REALLY!) and raffled some stuff.
A bunch of the regulars from Club Savoy decided to come in and check things out this time, so we had a great time. At the end of the evening, one of our good friends on staff there ended up the big winner, going home with a leather motorcycle jacket! And we raised about $276 that night, not too bad. Our next event there will be the Butterfly Carnivale on July 2!
Saturday night was our big trip to the GLAAD Media awards in SF. I've been to them every year in SF, and the event was even more crowded this year than last. I swore I wasn't going to bid on anything in the silent auction, but that was before I saw the vintage sapphire-colored rhinestone jewelry (pendant and earrings). I was winning them too, until my Empress outbid me at the quick sale price!
My friends then made my night by presenting them to me as a gift! My Empress and court members are truly lovely people. I think we'll all have to take turns wearing the jewelry.
Sunday we had our first "Gathering" at Renegades. Miss Idalis manned the grill and a number of folks shared the food we'd brought with us.
Later that night I headed over to TDs for a SJ Pride benefit. We had to postpone the grand prize drawing until this Thursday because not all the past ticket stubs made it to TDs in time, but we know where they are and SPLASH will be a great place to do the drawing. They tried to talk me into entering the GoGo boy contest, but I could hardly stand at that point, much less dance, so I left that to the younger lads and sang a song instead.
Ramping up into the big SJ Gay Pride week, here we go!
