I've a tail to tell!

Further updates on the WorldCon costume...

Yesterday and today I finished the tail and mounted it onto an old weightlifting belt (it fits on the last hole, so it goes on, but it is of no use for workouts anymore):

Here's the assembled tail hand-sewn to a piece of leather, which will then be riveted to an old weightlifting belt

You are seeing both the stitching and the silver marker I used when laying out the leather. The shock cord knots and chain end have been pulled through the leather, and then the cords tied together through the critical link of chain.

I don't think I've done this much handwork (between the tail and all the sculpting stitchery in the head) on a costume in quite a while!

The large (and relatively smooth) head of the rivets are on the inside; the large washers keep the expanded end of the rivet from pulling through the leather

When it's worn, it falls at exactly the right angle from the base of my spine.

What's left: toes (feet) and some stones on the jumpsuit. Hurrah! the end is in sight!
